So here it is. My first night out on my own since my baby was born. Actually, now I think about it, it’s my first night out with ‘the girls’ in almost two years – but that’s not cause of the baby.
Maybe I’m missing the odd occasion, in my memory banks, but I don’t think so.
Somehow I feel nervous, really. Nervous about leaving my itty bitty almost 11 week old at home with a very protective, caring and capable father. Nervous about being at least half an hour away from her. Nervous about having just a typical ‘girls’ night.
Even though it won’t be ‘typical’ since few of us are big drinkers and even less of us are big spenders!
But I think it will do me good to take a step away from ‘mom’ and from ‘wife’, from ‘cleaning lady’ and ‘cook’ and ‘laundry maid’ and return, if only for three or so hours, to just ‘Me’.
As I don some makeup, fish my heels out from the back of my wardrobe, and screw the lid on the bottle of expressed milk, I’ll take a moment to ask you when the last time was that you got to be just ‘Me’?

Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest! I hope your “girls night out” went well last night…you will have to do a follow up post to that! Good for you btw! You need to take off your mommy/ wifey hat sometimes and just be “you”! Congrats on your new baby…I’m sure hubby took good care while you were out with your gals!

It’s good to take a little time away every now and again. If you can relax just a teensy bit, the little part of you that’s been sacrificing that “me” time will thank you for it. 🙂
