Here’s our Christmas Dinner Menu for this year. My sister and her boyfriend are visiting us from Norway, so I’m looking forward to a relatively traditional meal.

Gingerbread House

A few years ago I made my first gingerbread house. I think there’s something lovely about having a friend, relative, or in time, my daughter decorating a gingerbread house while I prepare lunch. A bonding time for the women in my home. This will only be the second year I’m doing it, but that’s how traditions start, isn’t it?

This is our seventh Christmas together as a couple, and over time we have developed our own traditions. From our tree, to our serving dishes and Christmas morning activities (i.e. opening piles of presents in our pajamas while eating chocolates for breakfast!), we have established ‘our’ version of Christmas morning.

I am so excited when I think of next year, and the years thereafter when I can see the thrill of Christmas morning in my little girl’s eyes. I look forward to extending and including her in our established traditions, and I look forward to the new ones we’ll share as a family.

Creating Christmas Traditions

  1. What a tasty menu! We always have cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning and always drive around looking at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve. I also make a roast for Christmas dinner. 🙂

  2. We are still developing our traditions. We have been reading a lot of Christmas stories with JDaniel and will have birthday cake for Jesus as dessert on Christmas day. I have started a collection of ornaments for JDaniel that I want to add to each year.

  3. That is quite a Christmas menu! I’m hosting a very small dinner, just our 3 plus my mother-in-law. I will probably decide whilst in the grocery store what I’m making. You have to make it special, but also it’s only four people and I’m running way behind schedule on all of my Christmassing. UGH!

I wanted to make a gingerbread house – I suppose we’ll rain check that for next year.
