Daisies To Dinosaurs – A Small Business Review

A few weeks ago I received an email from Melanie from Daisies to Dinosaurs, a home run business that makes hooks and shelves specifically tailored to children. Melanie asked if I’d like to review one of their products, and always in support of small businesses and work from home parents, I agreed. Daisies to Dinosaurs make really cute coat hooks and shelves, suited to children’s rooms and décor (although they do have some general home ones too). They make hooks and shelves by hand and to order, and all items can be tailored to individual requirements with their ‘make your own’ service.

I asked Hayley from Singlemummy.net to review one of these for me. Being mum to a little boy, Hayley chose the football hook, as she thought her son would love it. “The range of colours to choose from was ideal, we chose red since Mummy is a Liverpool fan” said Hayley.

After selection, it took about a week to be sent out as each hook is handmade to take additional specifications into account – if you want more or less hooks, different colours or a name added, you just have to ask!

According to Hayley, the hook arrived well packaged, and is really easy to install – it took her less than five minutes.

“The hooks are great colour and the quality of the paint feels good, strong and robust,” she said. “The footballs on the item are made with what feels like funky foam. I did expect that they would be painted on or wooden and was somewhat surprised that they were foam. So far it has survived the preschoolers’ attempts at attacking it – although I’m not sure how long that will last!”

Hayley feels like this is a great product at a great price, and that it would make an ideal present. She did say, however, that the hooks were possibly a bit big for little clothes. “The hooks are somewhat large, meaning you can’t get all coat latches onto them, unless they have a hood you can hang them by instead. I think smaller hooks would probably be better.”
