Baby Sensory Nappy Balm Competition

Regular readers will know I’m always on the lookout for natural, ethical and nice products to use on my daughter Ameli’s very sensitive skin.  We were sent a tub of Nappy Balm from Baby Sensory to try out, so here are our thoughts.

To touch, the Baby Sensory Nappy Balm has a bit of a Vaseline kind of feeling and texture, but it also has a definite bees wax feel to it – hard to explain, but entirely pleasant.

To use, it absorbs quickly and goes far. In her cloth nappies, Ameli doesn’t often have rashes, but when she does they tend to be quite severe with a lot of raw skin.

This nappy balm is hypoallergenic and free from essential oils and Sodium Laurel Sulphates. It contains:

  • Sunflower seed oil – which locks in moisture and provides a protective barrier against infection
  • Olive oil – which helps to promote elasticity and disrupts the harmful effects of environmental pollutants
  • Cocoa butter – which acts as an antiseptic agent to protect skin from dermatological conditions including eczema and rashes
  • Beeswax – which contains anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and skin-softening properties
  • Castor oil – which cleanses and softens broken or rough skin

While this is called Nappy Balm, it’s actually useful as a general skin conditioner, and works really well as a hand cream.

The blurb from Baby Sensory says this: “To reduce the risk of gluten sensitivity, no Vitamin E from wheat germ oil has been added to the nappy balm. Water has also been excluded, which removes the necessity to include harmful preservatives. By combining only the purest and safest ingredients, the nappy balm can be used safely during pregnancy, and at all stages of life.”

The Baby Sensory nappy balm costs £5.99 per 50ml tub and can be purchased from the Baby Sensory website.

And of course, one reader has the opportunity to win a tub today.
