Two of my favourite hashtags on Instagram are #Nochildleftindoors and #Lastchildinthewoods. I love the days where I’ve had occasion to use them, and I love the days where we are the only people walking the woodland paths. The downside of these much-loved hashtags when you have young children, however, is that I have to get out from under my duvet, dress up like the Michellin-man, and get out in the woods with them – which I generally enjoy, but only when I’m kitted out right.
In forest school there’s a saying “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing” and that is very true, which is why as a mama who likes to get the kids outdoors in all weathers, it’s really important to have a pair of cozy, comfy wellie-boots. And when they’re pretty too? Well, that’s just an added bonus.

Two things I really love are the fact that the Neoprene leg bit is soft, as compared to hard rubber, which means I don’t end up with blisters or uncomfortable rubs against my shins or calves. The other thing is the pull-handles. It means I can pull the boot up easily and without much effort or getting your hands dirty.
The flowery style ispretty and it looks good on too. And adds a bit of colour to winter-drap wardrobes.
The only thing I’d recommend is if you have a wider foot, go up a size. I normally wear a 7 or 8, but the 8 on these is really very tight, width-wise, especially if I’m wearing woollen socks. Because they are rubber they don’t really have much ‘give’ to them, so sizing up is important if you normally have a half size.
