Weleda is a skin care product that I really love for myself as well as for Ameli.

We first came across it as a freebie in a Christmas party lucky packet, and I’ve used it on both of us ever since. Weleda products use 100% natural ingredients, leaving out any synthetic ingredients, non-natural preservatives, artificial fragrances and colourants and have also never – since they started in 1921 – done any animal testing.

The reason I love Weleda so much is because of their Calendula (a flower also known as Marigold) range.

While I love the smell, which is enough of a good reason for me, Weleda Calendula Baby skincare range was developed with the assistance of midwives, doctors, pharmacists and dermatologists for the best advice on the delicate skin of babies and toddlers – and in my case mothers with sensitive skin.

One of my favourite things about these lotions and potions is that they contain no petroleum or paraffin, so they do not form a film over the skin. Instead, they use natural plant oils derived from sun ripened seeds and fruits such as Sweet Almond and Sesame, pure essential oils from Lavender, Ylang-Ylang and plant extracts of Calendula and Chamomile.

Hushabye Baby are a UK company run by two mums, Margaret Peet & Jennifer Lackie, who started their company to bring together products that are good for babies, and mothers who were looking for such products – and so was born Hushabye Baby. They sell an impressive range of baby care items, from clothing to nappies – including the brand-new-to-the-UK gNappies – toiletries, toys, gift sets and fertility and mum care supplies.

Today they are offering a Diary of a First Child reader the chance to win a Weleda Body Lotion to try out.

Here’s a bit of blurb about Weleda Baby Lotion from the Hushabye Baby website:

“In the formulation of this product, the mother tincture (expressed from freshly harvested biodynamically grown Calendula flowers) is combined with two precious oils; Sweet Almond oil, which is well-liked in baby care for its gentleness, and organic Sesame seed oil with its excellent moisture retaining properties. This mixture of totally natural ingredients, help protect the skin from environmental drying effects, leaving the skin soft and supple.

Weleda Baby Calendula Lotion has been formulated without Lanolin therefore it is ideally suited for the care of delicate Lanolin-allergic skin.”

While not its express purpose, Weleda Baby products are also fantastic for nappy rash, cuts and scrapes and a general moisturiser.
Hushabye Baby will give a Diary of a First Child reader a bottle of Body Lotion. In order to enter the competition, you can either ‘like’ Hushabye Baby on Facebook (which I highly recommend as they have regular competitions and special offers), come back here and let me know you’ve ‘liked’ them or visit their website, then come back here and tell me the name of one any of the Weleda items they sell.

The competition is open until noon on the 11th of April 2011. A winner will be randomly drawn using Random.org. You can enter once or twice, using one or either method above.

You do not have to tweet or share this competition to enter, but doing so helps ensure that I can keep bringing you giveaways! You can subscribe to Diary of a First Child by RSS or email. You can also follow us on Facebook or on Twitter. We hope to see you back again soon!
