Today is launch day for the new Go Jetters Magazine from Immediate Media. We were sent a pre-release of the magazine so that we could tell you about it, which you can find out more about in the video below… but for those who like the highlights, read on!
Go Jetters is a magazine for children around 4 years old. If you haven’t seen the Cbeebies show, Go Jetters are aliens who visit different landmarks in different countries, learning about them as they go.
In the first issue the chosen landmark is The Eiffel Tower – on the first page you meet the Go Jetters – then a story where they set course for Paris with a few stops along the way (or not), like Niagara Falls and so on. There’s everything you expect from a children’s magazine: sticker pages, colouring, spot the difference, matching activities and more.
There’s a pull out centrefold you can stick on a wall, or turn it the other way round and there’s a reward chart – but not a standard one: this one rewards fun things, like “be a team with your grown up and help today” or “tell your grown up a funky fact about your day” so it’s aimed at creating a bond too, which I really like. There are moving activities – groovy moves and games to play, and also a cut out craft activity where you can build the Eiffel Tower.
While an older child, like my six year old, can enjoy the book on their own, a younger child will need help, so it’s a lovely activity to spend an hour doing together.
This issue came with two toys (three parts), a Xuli figurine and Jet Pad, the space ship (and the launching pad). The are fairly sturdy toys, and should stand up to a fair bit of free play.
There’s also an app you can download here which you can scan over pages of the magazine to point your phone or tablet over to take the fun online.
Go Jetters will be on sale at major retailers from today for £2.99 for the first issue, and £2.98 thereafter, with a new magazine every 4 weeks.
