Summer is coming! As I write this, the sun is shining brightly, though there’s still a chill in the air. Soon though, soon, the weather will be balmy – or as balmy as it gets here in the UK – and we’ll be heading out to sleep under canvas. Read on to find out why the Vango Starwalker Junior Sleeping Bag is a must-have for young campers this summer.

The Vango Starwalker Junior Sleeping Bag for kids comes in either a panda or dragon design. We received the panda free in exchange for our review, and if you watch this video, you’ll see just how much the children loved it.

There’s so much to like about this sleeping bag.

Aside from being super soft and quiet – it doesn’t rustle, which is great – it has so many usage options. The Vango Junior sleeping bag comes in it’s own bag, which can be carried as a backpack making it perfect for little ones to carry to the campsite on their own. It pulls out of the bag easily, and opens up to reveal a belly up panda bear, complete with ears on it’s hood. It’s superbly cute.Vango - panda

The Vango Junior sleeping bag works like a normal sleeping bag, with a zip down the right hand side for sleepers to climb in and out of. Length-wise my 4 year old has plenty of room, and my very tall 6-year old fits comfortably too. The hood keeps little heads warm too.

What makes this sleeping bag different is the three other zips on it.

One around three-quarters of the way to the bottom unzips the sleeping bag all the way around so that children can walk around the campsite inside their sleeping bag – which I think is also fantastic for those nights they fall asleep somewhere other than in the tent, because trying to wrangle a sleeping child into a sleeping bag is an art form! This way you can simply pop them down and attach the foot piece again. Genius.

There are two more straight zips down the sides – for the arms to go through while they’re walking around in their sleeping bags.

We haven’t tried to wash this sleeping bag yet, but if there’s anything of note, we’ll let you know after our first camping trip of the year.

I honestly think the design of this sleeping bag is the cleverest bit of camping kit I’ve seen in a very long time!

The Vango Starwalker Junior Sleeping Bag for kids has an RRP of £47.50.  You can buy these sleeping bags directly from Vango – the panda is here and the dragon is here, or you can buy them from Amazon too, with the panda being here and the dragon here.
