Our Bostik Bloggers box this month arrived full of Christmas goodies, so we decided to dive right in and start making little Christmas decorations.  I thought it would be a good time to use up some bits left over from earlier in the year too, so it’s a bit of a mix and match, but these are all easy, quick and simple ideas.Simple Crafty Christmas DecorationsTry these simple Christmas decorations

Christmas Decorations DIY

Button Trees Christmas Decorations

You will need:

  • Buttons of varying sizes
  • Glue dots or glue gun (you can find one at Glue Guns Direct)
  • Sticky dots or small stars

Method

Organise the buttons by colour and by size, large to small

Layer the buttons alternately with glue dots – which will make wobbly trees – or a glue gun – which will make firmer trees

You can also glue gun a loop of ribbon to one side to hang it on a tree

Twirly Tinsel Decorations

I love these Twirly Tinsel Decorations. They are really pretty and I think attached to a name tag would make lovely gift tags too. With the sparkling Christmas lights on them, they’ll light up the tree even more.

You will need:

  • Sparkling pipe cleaner
  • Sparkly beads

Method

Place the first bead on the pipe cleaner and bend the tip of the pipe cleaner over itself to make it thick enough that it won’t lose the beads

Thread more beads with roughly even spacing and at the top, fold the pipe cleaner into a loop for hanging

Take the pipe cleaner and twist it around two fingers to make it twirly

Ribbon Christmas Tree Decoration

You will need:

  • Variety of ribbons
  • Needle and thread
  • Variety of beads, the shinier the better and/or little bells

Method

Use the needle and thread to tie the first bead

Sew through the ribbon, then another bead

Zigzag the ribbon to and fro alternating ribbon and bead but making the ribbon smaller with each pass to create a tree effect

On the last bead, make a large loop to hang it from
