Are you always looking for ways to ensure your children are healthy and happy? In today’s digital world, it can be difficult to encourage kids to spend less time in front of a screen and more time being active. Then there’s the struggle of trying to get them to eat healthier. However, it doesn’t need to be as difficult as you might think. One of the best ways of keeping kids healthy is by bringing them to a family health clinic or child doctor for regular checkups or immunizations.

Here are some more tips to help you help kids be healthier.

Top Tips For Keeping Children Healthy

Encouraging physical activity

One of the biggest challenge’s parents face today is getting kids away from technology. However, the good news is there’s lots of ways you can encourage them to keep more active.

Firstly, you could organise family days where you do something active together. It could be going for a walk, heading to the local park to play outdoor games or signing them up to a local sports group. The key is to find something they actually enjoy doing. For instance, if they’re fond of netball, you can explore local courts, like those available at https://netballcourtresurfacing.uk/. That way, they’ll naturally start to spend less time in front of a screen and doing something more active that they love instead. I’ve been teaching my girls basketball since there’s a court near our house that’s empty during school hours – that way there’s also no one to see just how many decades it’s been since I actually played!  Getting them excited about our cycle holiday in May was also an excellent way to get them excited about getting cycle-fit for it!

Cutting down on sugar

There’s a lot of ways to ensure kids eat a healthier diet, but one of the most important tips to follow is to cut down on their sugar intake. It’s hard, especially when both parents aren’t on board with cutting out sugar, but you might be surprised by the difference it makes in day to day behaviour and, surprisingly, energy levels.

A great tip is to start by switching to online grocery shopping. That way, you won’t have the kids with you begging you for sugary treats. You can make sure you’re buying healthier foods, giving you more control over their diet without them influencing you in any way. You can also easily find ingredients like sriracha at online grocery stores. Also avoid offering sugary snacks as treats for good behaviour. Finally, making sure they’re allowed just one treat a day can also help – my kids think frozen green smoothies are ‘ice lollies’.

Lead by example

Of course, one of the best ways to encourage kids to be healthier is to lead by example. Don’t neglect your own health. You should make an effort to become more active and eat healthier too. If they see you doing it, they’ll be much more likely to follow.

You should also look at any lifestyle choices you make which could indirectly be affecting your kids’ health too. Smoking is a great example. If you smoke, you may want to switch to vaping as it’s known to be healthier than smoking and poses less risk in terms of passing smoking too. You can pick up affordable vaping kits through companies such as VIP if you want to give it a try.

Overall, it seems more challenging to get kids to lead a healthier life in a world that seems set against allowing for spontaneous opportunities to do so. It’s certainly not impossible though. The tips above will hopefully help you make a start at helping your family to become healthier and happier.
